Pokémon ships I've named

This list was originally posted on LiveJournal, but LiveJournal's post limits forced me to split it into two parts, so this is ultimately the new actual masterpost for ships I've named.

I'm Sharona Paradox on the Bulbagarden forums. Here are the ships I've named for the shipping list and details as to why I've named them that way (or why I even put the characters together)!

Since people following a link to this post aren't going to be able to read the cut text, I must say that this post contains, to quote the cut, "brief discussion of (potentially non-sexual and non-romantic) ships between relatives, human/Pokémon pairings, age differences, and possible spoilers for the games and obscure mangas of which you probably haven't heard. Anything I think is too potentially spoilery is hidden, but just in case..."

PlayFightshipping - Bruno & Duplica
The first ship I named! This was based on this artist's work, which was in turn based off their interactions in this fic. I actually don't care much for the fic, because I'm not a big action/adventure fan, but there was a time when I was really into this art, and I was shocked that nobody else had named this! So I looked for their interactions in the fic since that was really where the inspiration came from (and not the canon, where they've never met and have pretty much nothing in common), but I tried to make the name make sense if you weren't familiar with the fic. So, Duplica's playful (moreso in the fic than canon, but whatevs) and Bruno's a Fighting-type trainer (I forget exactly what he is in the fic, but it's still related to fighting). It's not a great name, but I think it suits their awkward selves enough.

PureAndInnocentshipping - N & Anthea
Likewise, I was surprised at the lack of representation that Anthea and Concordia had in the ships, so I came up with quite a few involving them. I realize that their involvement in BW is almost negligible (and I named the ships involving the two before we got slightly more backstory in B2W2), but their mysteriousness only makes them more intriguing, really. This particular ship was named after something Concordia says about N (Anthea wasn't quite as quoteable, sorry to say).

BeautifulAndTerrifyingshipping - N & Concordia
Another Concordia quote. I was actually trying to play it safe by using in-game quotes since we knew hardly anything about Anthea and Concordia, and I was trying to accomodate the theories that they're either Ghetsis's wives (potentially making shipping them with N incestuous) or N's sisters (definitely making it incestuous). In B2W2, they're pretty much surrogate sisters for N, which sort of makes it pseudo-incestuous, I suppose.

Castellanshipping - N, Anthea, & Concordia
I'm actually quite proud of this one! Apparently, the ship had already been claimed for naming, but the original claimer liked my name a lot and chose it! AWESOME. Anyways, a castellan is the keeper of a castle. Who has a castle? N! Who takes care of things (including maybe the castle, who knows)? Anthea and Concordia! Woo~

Diabolusshipping - Ghetsis & Anthea
Because... Ghetsis is evil? His Japanese name, according to Bulbapedia, comes from G and Cis, a tritone referred to as Diabolus en Musica in the 18th century, so the name didn't come out of thin air. Anthea could be seen here as either being a victim of his or trying to help him (I joked when I first posted this that "love" is almost "evil" spelled backwards). I repeat, who knows?

Suppressshipping - Ghetsis & Concordia
Man, that looks weird if you don't capitalize the "s" in "shipping." OH WELL. Anyways, same logic as the last one, and I gotta say I was surprised that this name hasn't been used before for any other ship.

SisterWivesshipping - Ghetsis, Anthea, & Concordia
NOT named after the TLC show, but the concept I get from the name. I originally wrote here that I didn't want to talk about the show because I was worried about offending someone, but all my complaints boiled down to "I watched an episode and a half, and they seemed kinda douche-y," which is how I feel about nearly every reality show anyways and has nothing to do with polyamory (and love is A-ok when everything's consensual!), so. Anyways, the name comes from the possibility that they might literally be sisters (in which case, double entendre!) and the aforementioned theory that they were Ghetsis's wives. Regardless of their connection to Ghetsis, I see it less as a healthy polyamorous love and more as something, well, oppressive. Because Ghetsis is evil, not because of polyamory.

Lustrationshipping - Ghetsis, N, Anthea, & Concordia
I'm even more proud of this one than I am of Castellanshipping! I actually found this one and that one by combing through synonyms of words I thought fit, and I was super excited to find this! Exclamation points! Anyways, to quote, er, myself, "lustration is basically used to mean purification now, but it used to mean, to quote Wikipedia, 'mass disqualification of those associated with the abuses under the prior regime'" and I think it fits. I mean, there's a regime (there's even a castle!) and you can't possibly say there were no abuses. The purification works better with N, Anthea, and Concordia, admittedly, than Ghetsis, but it's still a really apt name, I think.

Altomareshipping - Ash, Bianca (the girl from the fifth movie, not the BW rival), & Latias
This ship seriously didn't have a name! Can you believe it? Decided to end the "Was it Bianca or Latias who kissed Ash?" debate (it was totally Latias, BTW), so I smushed Altoshipping and Mareshipping together. Hey, I never said I put a lot of work into all of these names. It fits, anyways, since Altomare is the city's Japanese name (its English name is Alto Mare, which isn't as pretty to look at in a shipping name and would look even more smushed together).

WildlifePreservationshipping - Kaiser & Dratini
OH HEY obscure character time, why not. Kaiser is the Safari Zone warden in the episode that got banned because he's trigger happy. He was super close to this one Dratini, and I figured, you know, why not? Not as concise a name as Pikashipping, but hey.

WaysOfMakingYouTalkshipping - Kaiser & Jessie
Because Jessie tried flirting with him to get him to spill Dratini's location. Didn't really work, but he still obviously thought she was hot stuff. Because she is. Deal with it.

TickleTortureshipping - Kaiser, James, & Jessie
Also they used a tickling machine. Sorry for no Kaiser/James or any Meowth, but there wasn't much interaction, and I had a hard enough time coming up with these ships.

BannedEpisodeshipping - Dr. Akihabara & Kaiser
Dr. Akihabara is from the episode that gave people seizures. Also, he was involved in ZERO ships, so I tried to remedy that. The whole "banned episode" thing is, admittedly, the only thing connecting these two, but eh.

ItWasPikachu'sFaultshipping - Dr. Akihabara & Porygon
Not fond of this one, but I don't think it's too flippant. I tried not to be too casual about the seizures people got (because that would be icky), but, let's face it, that's one of the only notable things about this episode. I've seen it, and it's honestly up to par with the average filler ep. Maybe even less, really.

SupervillainousMarioBrosshipping - Lorenzo & Lyra
Lorenzo! From the fifth movie? Bianca's grandfather? Nobody remembers him, do they. Anyways, the name was inspired by one of Lyra's fanon characterizations as super creepy, which I actually kinda like, and Lorenzo's characterization as a serial killer in this recap (must be the eyes). Their outfits are both reminiscent of Mario of Nintendo fame, and Lorenzo was in the same situation as Dr. Akihabara. He doesn't have enough interaction with the other movie characters for me to come up with any suitable ship names, sry2say.

UnderneathMyChristmasTreeshipping - Jessie & Santa Claus
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. And Jessie had significant interaction with him! THE WHOLE EPISODE WAS ABOUT THESE TWO. How did this seriously not have a name before I came by? This was inspired by Lady Gaga's song "Christmas Tree" (and there's actually a vid with these two to that song!), but it's a common enough saying that it doesn't have to be associated with Lady Gaga if you don't want it to be.

BoardingSchoolshipping - Erika & Giselle
Another ship based off the artist I mentioned in the first description. I forgot to submit it with PlayFightshipping, because there's only been one picture drawn of it, but it's got a name now, at least. This is based off how Giselle is a schoolgirl and Erika has a gym populated with only women... yes, it's a all-girls' boarding school joke.

Obnoxiousshipping - Butch & Gary
Based off this list. Obviously, I won't name all of the ships, but it inspired me. Name comes from Butch's obnoxious voice and Gary's tendency to be obnoxious early in the series (you'd never know I liked them from the way I describe them). Interestingly, Cassidy/Gary already had a ship name (Scornshipping), but not these two. Huh.

Don'tThinkYouCanFoolMeshipping - Ritchie & Erika
Another list-inspired ship, this name is based off the time Ash had to disguise himself as "Ashley" to see Erika. And Ritchie looks a lot like Ash...

FirstChallengeshipping - Will & Lorelei
Again, inspired by the list. They're the first Elite Four members you face in RBGY/FRLG and GSC/HGSS. Why didn't this already have a name?

GreatestCatchshipping - Annie, Oakley, & Latias
Well, Annie and Oakley were chasing after Latias. I mean, sure, they had bigger goals, but Latias can shapeshift into a pretty girl, and what's better than pretty girls? (Don't worry, Bianca's pretty too. This is just a joke.)

FashionDisastershipping - Annie & Latias
To quote what I said when I submitted this, "in the original Japanese— or at least the translation I came across— Annie criticized Latias's fashion sense SERIOUSLY ANNIE LOOK AT YOUR HAIR" HOW CAN YOU GO OUTSIDE LOOKING LIKE THAT SERIOUSLY

Yowzashipping - Oakley & Latias
Based off the recap I linked to under SupervillainousMarioBrosshipping. In it, it was joked that Annie and Oakley were cruising for girls when they were chasing Latias, and one of the words used was "YOWZA." Also, I couldn't think of anything better (and it's funny, so who cares).

IceQueenshipping - Lorelei & Leaf
Because Lorelei trains Ice-types and they're both queens (DEAL WITH IT). Surprised nobody else had named this already.

DeathlyFreezeshipping - Red (game) & Lorelei
Really surprised nobody had named this already. Partially based off Freezeshipping (Special!Red/Lorelei) and game!Red's memetic badassery. I would have named it Coldcockshipping to play off the "cold" part and the aforementioned badassery ("coldcock" means to knock someone unconscious), but most people would have thought it was obscene. Which would be funny, but not something I'd like to deal with.

Coldcockshipping - Lorelei & Maylene
But I'm okay with naming this Coldcockshipping! Giving a name like that to a femslash pairing would certainly challenge people's thoughts regarding sexuality, hmmm? Anyways, there was actually a slight problem when I submitted it since the list mostly tries to be family-friendly with its names, but I finally got the go-ahead for this, which is great.

Cicadashipping - Bugsy & Ethan (game)
Bugsy's Japanese name is connected to a type of cicada. Y'know, two of Ethan's manga counterparts (Special and Golden Boys) have flirted with Bugsy, thinking he was a girl. MUST BE A SIGN

FleshAndBloodshipping - Ash & Silver (game)
Giovanni is Silver's father and is speculated to be Ash's. Anyways, Ash/Special!Silver was Fraternalshipping, so, uhhh, this needed a name, I guess.

BlackMindshipping - Black (Golden Boys) & Black (Special)
In case you're confused. Special!Black has used his Munna to "blanken" his "black mind," and GB!Black arguably has a "black mind" of his own.

ShrewdBusinessshipping - Black (Golden Boys) & White
Haha, Black/White. So, uh, White's a business person and, uh, I guess Black could be considered "shrewd" (at least according to himself) because of the whole "strong trainer" thing.

BabySealsshipping - Black (Golden Boys) & N
I really doubt the "strong trainer" thing would fly well with N, though. Name comes from the jokes about clubbing baby seals. I mean, animal cruelty is (obviously) bad, but I felt it was an appropriate name for these two.

Winningshipping - Lance & Red (game)
A play off Championshipping (because Red won the championship, ohoho).

Almostshipping - Red (game) & Yellow
Because game!Red and Special!Red are almost the same? Well, sorta. Honestly, I just named this because I realized Specialshipping is pretty popular, but Yellow hadn't been paired with Special!Red's precursor (although Ash/Yellow has been named Benevolentshipping...).

DoYouWantToFightMeshipping - Black (Golden Boys) & Hilda
All that stuff I said earlier about GB!Black, plus the fact that Bulbapedia's name origins for Hilda and Hilbert basically all have to do with fighting. I pretty much had Venus Hum's "Do You Want To Fight Me" stuck in my head while naming.

DoYouThinkYouCanBeatMeshipping - Black (Golden Boys) & Hilbert
Same as above. This makes more sense than "with your one good leg" anyways.

RateOfSnowshipping - Black (Golden Boys), Black (Special), & White (Special)
Okay, this one doesn't make much sense (still from the song, BTW), but, hey, I just named Black/White/Black. AWESOME.

Combustibleshipping - Black (Golden Boys) & Silver (game)
CROSS-UNIVERSE SELFCEST woooo. Actually pretty messed up in this case, hence the "combustible" part. I considered "a bit combustible" instead, but that's just milking the song now.

Smithereensshipping - Black (Golden Boys) & Silver (Special)
WOOOO MORE MESSED UP CROSS-UNIVERSE SELFCEST. This actually has nothing to do with the song, but it follows on from Combustibleshipping anyways.

SadieHawkinsshipping - Hilbert & Lass Maya
"I bet I get just as nervous asking a guy as a guy would asking a girl..." Hrm, all the Ferris wheel ships involving Hilda have been named, but the only one involving Hilbert is with Hiker Andy (Wagonloadshipping, by the way). Come on, people! This kinda stuff is practically canon!

ComfortingShouldershipping - Hilbert & Clerk Trisha
This was the least awful name I could come up with. WHY YOU CRYING TRISHA do you want some comfort?

JustALittleGirlshipping - Hilbert & Preschooler Winter
I think it would be cute if it was one-sided on Winter's part. :( I also tried to make the name as non-squicky as possible.

ChangingWithTheSeasonsshipping - Ace Trainer Austin, Dancer Dirk, Rich Boy Martin, Waitress Aurora, & Hilda
Weirdly, despite the Hilda Ferris wheel ships being named, nobody's smushed them all together. Except for me, obviously. Anyways, uh, the other trainers change with the seasons, so that's where the name comes from.

HandsomeMenshipping - Ace Trainer Austin, Dancer Dirk, Rich Boy Martin, & Hilda
REVERSE HAREM. I actually saw a pic with them all on the Ferris wheel together, so I dropped Aurora for this one. Sorry, Aurora!

SeasonalOdditiesshipping - Hiker Andy, Hilbert, Lass Maya, Clerk Trisha, & Preschooler Winter
Hilbert has some really weird choices for rides. Okay, two beautiful women... and a burly man and a preschooler. Hilda, on the other hand, has three handsome men and a beautiful woman. Hilda's options are technically better for shipping purposes, but rather less interesting. :/

BeautifulWomenshipping - Hilbert, Lass Maya, & Clerk Trisha
SPEAKING OF SAID BEAUTIFUL WOMEN I've never actually seen Maya/Hilbert/Trisha stuff, but I decided to name it, just in case.

LightningInTheSkyshipping - Iris, Elesa, & Skyla
I saw a picture with the three of them together, and figured, well, why not? Dragons fly, Elesa trains Electric-types, Skyla trains Flying-types...

DracoVolansshipping - Iris & Skyla
Named after this thing. Because it's a "flying dragon," get it? Weirdly, Elesa/Iris already had a name (Drukshipping), but this didn't.

Alucardshipping - Grimsley & Gold (Special)
Because I was looking through old posts and saw the suggestion that Alucardshipping would be a great name for a Grimsley ship (well, it wasn't said like that since the games hadn't come out in English by then, but you know), and Grimsley/Gold was suggested, as was Grimsley/Maylene. The latter has been named by now (as Pokerfaceshipping), but the former hadn't. And since nobody's used the name...

Eustasyshipping - Emmet, Grimsley, Ingo, & Hilda
Because Ingo/Emmet/Grimsley/Hilbert was Isostasyshipping, and isostasy and eustasy are connected geological terms. I wonder why one was named but the other wasn't.

IndigoPlateaushipping - Bruno, Lance, Blue (game), Agatha, & Lorelei
Because I'm sure there's someone out there who ships the Elite Four all together. So, uh, you can find them all at the Indigo Plateau, which is why I named it this.

OriginalEliteFourshipping - Bruno, Lance, Agatha, & Lorelei
NOW WITH LESS PREPUBESCENT BOYS technically these four are the original Elite Four since Blue just came in and swiped the Champion title. Also, they're the only one that's actually made up of four people.

IndigoLeagueshipping - Bruno, Koga, Lance, Will, & Karen
Because it's, uh, the Indigo League they're all in? Apparently I have a knack for giving terrible names to ships that nobody actually cares for.

HoennLeagueshipping - Drake (Elite Four), Sidney, Steven Stone, Glacia, & Phoebe
Just continuing the pattern. Gosh, seriously nobody's named these?

Iridopolishipping - Drake (Elite Four), Sidney, Wallace, Glacia, & Phoebe
The only semi-creative one of the Elite Four batch, but not totally. Iridopoli is actually the Italian name for Ever Grande City. I chose it for the one with Wallace, since it basically means "rainbow city," and, well, Wallace is pretty fabulous (this is obviously somewhat of a joke, since my Tumblr, YouTube, and default LJ icons are all of rainbows).

EverGrandeCityshipping - Drake (Elite Four), Sidney, Steven Stone, Wallace, Glacia, & Phoebe
Hey, did you know that the places that the leagues in Sinnoh and Unova aren't given names? Funny how, until B2W2, they were also the only ones without rotating members.

SinnohLeagueshipping - Aaron (Elite Four), Flint (Elite Four), Lucian, Bertha, & Cynthia
Considering Cynthia's immense popularity, I'm honestly shocked that this hadn't been named.

UnovaLeagueshipping - Alder, Grimsley, Marshal, Caitlin, & Shauntal
The last one! WHY SO DISAPPOINTING FANDOM i should not be the one naming all of these >:(

SpringInYourStepshipping - Dancer Dirk & Hilbert
Decided to switch the Ferris wheel ships. To make it easier on myself, these are pretty much all playing off the seasons the specific NPCs appear in. This one also kind of plays off the fact that Dirk's, well, a Dancer. That's his Trainer class.

SummerDreamsshipping - Ace Trainer Austin & Hilbert
This one is kind of more a play on SummerHopeshipping, which is, interestingly enough, the only one of the already-named Ferris wheel ships to specifically state the season.

AutumnCherryshipping - Hilbert & Waitress Aurora
Autumn cherry trees are those ones with the pretty leaf colors. This has nothing to do with shipping, but I wanted to mention it in case somebody went, "Oh, you're just picking random things with the specific season in it." WHICH I KIND OF AM, but I still feel that they're appropriate.

WinterWonderlandshipping - Hilbert & Rich Boy Martin
Fun fact: Martin, being a Rich Boy, pays 3,840 Pokémon dollars upon being defeated. Winter, being a Preschooler, pays 96. Seriously, Hilda's choices dole out more money than Hilbert's, but it's most obvious here.

SpringDayshipping - Hilda & Lass Maya
MORE FEMSLASH OPTIONS FOR HILDA and with a Lass? Wow, that's lucky.

SummerVacationshipping - Hiker Andy & Hilda
IDK I just didn't want to name this something like the Wrongs of Summer or whatever get it, because of the Rites of Summer and this wasn't too awful (nor was it in use, which surprised me).

FallOfAutumnshipping - Hilda & Clerk Trisha
GET IT BECAUSE "FALL" IS AN ACCEPTABLE SYNONYM FOR "AUTUMN" IN AMERICA i think i personally say fall more than autumn hmmm (so don't take this as me capping on anybody since i'm actually a ~*~CALIFORNIA GIRL~*~)

WinterCarnivalshipping - Hilda & Preschooler Winter
According to Google, there are apparently winter festivals called, well, "Winter Carnival." I'm not naming this after any specific one; I just needed a name to complete the set. But, hey, kids love carnivals, right?

Daynightmareshipping - Ben & Nick (Ranger)
I'd been playing Guardian Signs and wondered what ships the characters were involved in. I looked at the list and found that some ships involving Summer (the female player character) existed, but not Ben (the male player character)! This one is a counterpart to SeaSaltshipping (Nick/Summer), and the name comes from Nick's incessant worrying. According to Bulbapedia, "daynightmares" was the word used, but I'll admit that it's been a while since I played that part.

ThreeRequestsshipping - Ben & Nema
Counterpart to Arrebatoshipping (Nema/Summer), which I ship so much. I always play the female character, but, hey, the dudes need love too.

HeroOfLegendshipping - Ravio & Ben
I hadn't gotten far in the game as of my naming of these ships, because I'd been consumed with SoulSilver at the time, but it seemed wrong for Ravio/Summer (Amunshipping) to exist and not this.

Abeyanceshipping - Purple Eyes & Ben
I was just looking at synonyms for oblivion, because I had decided to name these before I'd met Purple Eyes. The Bulbapedia articles are pretty short, and I didn't want to read them too closely for fear of spoilers. It still fits anyways.

Abjurationshipping - Purple Eyes & Summer (Ranger)
Same as above. Bizarrely, Red Eyes and Blue Eyes have both been paired with all three of these characters, but apparently nobody thought to put the third Admin with the player characters. Hrm.

FeelingsOfFriendshipshipping - Lunick & N
Because N/Solana was named CircleOfFriendsshipping; the original poster said the name is "tying into N viewing Pokemon are his friends, plus how Solana has to circle Pokemon to befriend them." And I have a compulsive need to name counterparts.

Overshadowshipping - Kellyn & N
N/Kate is ShadowOfDoubtshipping because, according to the original namer, "Kate is from Shadows of Almia, and N begins to doubt himself on his goals a little ways into the game."

MelodyInMyHeadshipping - Ben & N
N/Summer was named Ukeleleshipping, because, quoting the namer, "as the protagonist, Summer's partner is a ukulele-playing Pichu. N has a musical-themed name." CLEARLY IYAZ'S "REPLAY" FITS PERFECTLY yes i know i have questionable taste in music

FriendshipIsMagicshipping - Ben, Kellyn, Lunick, N, Kate (Ranger), Summer (Ranger), & Solana
NO REGRETS JUST LOVE~

Meddlingshipping - Ethan (game) & Giovanni
I'd noticed Giovanni/Lyra was named (Interferenceshipping), but not this. To quote myself when I submitted this, "Since Ethan meddles with Team Rocket's plans. You could make an argument for Giovanni being meddlesome himself, since he used to be a Gym Leader and yet was the head of a crime syndicate."

Don'tCallMyNameshipping - Cullen Calix & Jessie
Cullen Calix is from "Mewtwo Returns," the sequel to the first movie (if that doesn't refresh anyone's memory, it's the one with Domino in it). He is ridiculously handsome, but his only ships are with Domino and Luna Carson (there are actually, like, three different ship names for Cullen/Luna, but, eh, that's how things went back then). There is, by the way, a video for this ship to the Lady Gaga song that inspired the name. Way cool.

UnderYourSkinshipping - Giovanni & Erika
Looking around has brought this video to my attention. To quote the vidmaker's description, "I actually kind of like this couple. It's got interesting dynamics, even though I totally prefer Erika with girls." I pretty much completely agree with that (even the part where I prefer Erika as a lesbian). This is an incredibly intriguing ship to me.

Kindermaerchenshipping - Grimsley & Marley
I came across someone saying they shipped this, but it didn't have a name, and I rectified that. This was originally going to be named "Kindermärchenshipping" ("kid's fairy tales" in German), but I figured the non-accented version would be less of a headache for everyone (I'm including myself in this since I can't usually remember how to make accented letters on the keyboard).

ChallengeAcceptedshipping - Hiori & Rocco
Back to obscure characters, I see. Anyways, these two are from Phantom Thief Pokémon 7, and Rocco sent Hiori a letter of challenge, which... Hiori accepted. This is a little obvious maybe, but whatever.

MasterSevenshipping - Hiori & Nazuna
Nazuna had a crush on Pokémon 7, calling him "Master Seven," (yes, I'm lazy), but she didn't feel the same way for Hiori. But (dun dun dun) Hiori is Pokémon 7! It's like the Superman/Lois Lane/Clark Kent "love triangle," if you want to think of it that way.

CharmOfRosesshipping - Rocco & Lily (Pokémon 7)
To quote Bulbapedia, Rocco tries to "dissuade Lily from fighting with a rose and his charm, but fails miserably." Well, this is canonically one-sided, so the lack of a name almost surprised me (almost because, well, not many people know about this manga).

TwinBondshipping - Hiori & Lily (Pokémon 7)
Lily has the ability to read Pokémon's auras (hence the "bond"), and these two are, um, twins. The TV Tropes entry for the series calls the relationship between these two "incest subtext," and I've come across shippers, so the lack of a name for this actually did kinda surprise me.

CryForAttentionshipping - May & Torchic
STOP IGNORING ME MAY I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO WIN YOUR LOVE BACK

BattleChickenshipping - May & Combusken
Fun fact: May/Blaziken is named ContuckyFriedshipping (?!). None of Blaziken's prevolutions had ship names with May, and since that's the precedent, I didn't really have to worry about making horrid names like usual.

SweetiePiesshipping - Dawn, Jasmine, & Lyra

I was playing Pokémon White when I came up with this, since every time I sent Zekrom into battle, Zekrom's ability showed up, and it stuck in my head.

This is fairly self-explanatory (bubbly demeanors, Dawn's name related to light, yadda yadda yadda), but again: why wasn't this already named? I mean, the popular protagonist of one game and the cute childhood friend from another? You'd think fandom would be all over that. Incidentally, the name is sort of based off Len's "Steal My Sunshine"; I had forgotten the exact name, but I think "steal" has too much of a negative connotation in this fandom for it to work for Bianca/Dawn, so this works well.

Just like many other pairs here, this one came about because I ran across someone who shipped an unnamed ship. I thought about it and decided to go with a pun just for fun. ;) Power plants generate electric power, and plants are usually used to refer to foliage. Not to mention they're both pretty powerful people.

Pokémon Conquest is a fantastic game— which is why I'm surprised that so few people have been naming ships from it. I don't personally ship this, but it seemed like an obvious place to start.

"Mikata" is Japanese for "friend, ally, supporter" which is, you know, what Oichi is. This right here is my OTP for the game, but it seems to be overlooked by what fandom there is (I mean, there are some fanworks for it, which is fabulous, but there just aren't enough!). :(

"Tomodachi" means "friend." I don't care too much for this couple, but I hate it when a major-ish ship involving a protagonist is named and its counterpart isn't.

Koumorishipping - Motochika & Heroine (Conquest)
"Bat," which is Motochika's nickname in other Koei titles, based on Nobunaga's historical insult of him as the "the bat who refuses to fly away from its home." Since the heroine seems to be the only one with any shippy art (this is an exaggeration, but it sure feels that way sometimes), I figured such an important name for Motochika would fit as a ship name with her.

Hibikushipping - Hero (Conquest) & Motochika
"To resound." Koei's interpretation of Motochika draws heavily on sound, many of his weapons being instruments.

Shindoushipping - Mitsunari & Heroine (Conquest)
"Prodigy, wonder child" or, alternatively, "shock, tremor, impact." The former works since Mitsunari is a wonder child (why he's a kid in Conquest when he's an adult in other Koei titles is beyond me, but whatever), and the latter works because he's constantly bumping into Oichi and the protagonist.

Yuuryoujishipping - Hero (Conquest) & Mitsunari
"Superior child." Mitsunari is totally superior to you. Or at least that's how he acts. Patronizing little punk (I like him, mind you, but what an attitude problem!).

Chuugishipping - Hanzō & Heroine (Conquest)
"Loyalty, devotion," because, well, Hanzō is a pretty devoted guy. Total nonsense, I know, but I saw one picture, and I had to name this, since I'd feel bad otherwise.

Akumashipping - Nobunaga & Nō
"Devil, demon," oh, come on, everybody knows this one. Anyways, Demon King and his venomous wife. I figured this was kind of an obvious choice.

Ririshiishipping - Nobunaga & Ranmaru
"Gallant, brave," yadda yadda. I've also seen it translated as "manly," which is amusing considering Ranmaru is canonically mistaken for a woman, even in Conquest. But Ranmaru does see himself as manly, and he certainly is rather gallant. Had to name this ship, because it's one of the more obvious ones in Conquest and historically supported to boot (for anyone too lazy to use Google, the real-life Nobunaga and Ranmaru were in a sexual relationship).

Masarushipping - Hanbei & Kanbei
"To excel, surpass." Don't look at me like that; in Kanbei's episode, Hanbei explicitly says that he's the older of the two (historically, Hanbei was two years older than Kanbei). And this is a rather popular ship for the both of them, so hush.

Hanranshashipping - Magoichi & Masamune
"Rebel, insurgent." Because they're both... rebellious? Look, I don't care. I think it's an interesting pair, at least, and it has some support in the fandom.

This is mainly a result of me overthinking things; I wondered about what kinds of fandoms the Pokéstar Studios movies would have and got this strange notion in my head that Brycen-Man/Riolu-Man should be a thing (it would be a hilarious ship, wouldn't it?). Since that's, uh, sorta silly, I named the next best thing. Anyways, the name is based off of one of the descriptions for a hint medal that says you should do something unique in a movie to make it a cult classic (I love that the game acknowledges that weird movies can be pretty well-liked). For the record, I don't actually think "Pop Roxie" is Roxie's dad's real name; it's probably just a stage name, which is fortunate considering he seemed, ah, unenthusiastic after seeing his performance as an actor.
